Truth Drummers invite you to Press Statement scheduled for Saturday 25th April at St. James Amphitheater at 10:00am. We will explain what happened at the first Drummit Event, who we are and what the next event is about. See also following release:
Second Drummit Coming…
Truth Drummers regret the uncalled for intervention by the riot police at the first Drummit2summiT Event at the St. James Amphitheater on Saturday 18th April which disrupted and prevented completion of our scheduled ‘conscious-culture” Event. Active people from communities around the country were going to make their ‘Declarations’ on Summit themes of ‘sustainability, security and prosperity’.
We were also going to ceremonially welcome and seat the Cuban drum in the circle of drums representing all Nation States of the Americas.
Our Event intended to share the contradictions between the draft ‘Declaration of Commitment’ placed by Trinidad & Tobago before Heads of American States for signature, and the reality facing the National Community of Trinidad & Tobago.
Here, ‘environmental sustainability’ means planting a massive carbon footprint of global warming toxic industries like aluminium and steel smelters and huge power plants. Surely, this defines anti-sustainable development. This must have been an eye opener for Obama who is reversing years of environmental abuse during the Bush era.
In T&T the present energy policy is the maximal exploitation of gas resources and avoidance of discussion of price transparency far less long-term energy security needs. Surely, this defines ‘energy insecurity’.
Here, our drinking freshwater is seen as a source of ‘profit’ for foreign private companies. It is not seen as a ‘public need’ far less a ‘public right’, which it ought to be. Our God given mineral rich drinking water in the Northern Range is being sacrificed to a deregulated quarrying sector. Shame!
As for food self-sufficiency, the plan in hand is to bowl down some 20, 000 existing small farmers with nine fully subsidized mega-farms each twenty times the size of an average small farmer.
These are a few of the contradictions that were to be raised at the first Drummit2summiT Event in St. James. Based on popular demand, the Truth Drummers invite you to The Second ‘Drummit’ on 23rd May from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at a venue to be announced shortly. We are presently seeking permission for the St. James Amphitheater again.
We invite all Citizens and independent patriots of The Republic of Trinidad & Tobago to attend – Trinbago Drummers bring your drums and come and play for change.
